Top 5: Fourth of July DIY Crafts!

1) Red, White, and Blue Headband
Take a piece of paper and wrap it around your head so it goes around comfortably. Secure with a piece of tape. Take equal strips of red tissue paper, blue tissue paper, and white tissue paper, the same length as your piece of paper. Tape or glue the tissue paper onto your white paper in order: red, white, blue. Done!

2) American Abstract
Take a canvas, a blowdryer (electric hairdryer), and some crayons of the colors red, white, and blue (pick different shades). Cover your workspace with newspaper, so it won't get dirty. Tape the crayons in order of color to the top of the canvas. (as in light blue, dark blue, white, light red, dark red) Use the blowdryer to blow near the crayons, in the direction you want the colored wax to go. Since the crayon is made of wax, it will melt into a liquid with all of the heat and splatter onto the canvas, creating an abstract. After you are done, remove the crayons right away and let the painting dry. After it has dried, you may hang it on your wall. Done!

3) Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels
Take red, white, and blue chocolate or chocolate melts. If you cannot find the colors red and blue, simply dye the white chocolate into three equal piles. Use red and blue food coloring dye to dye two of the piles of white chocolate. Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or over the stove. Take a handful of mini pretzels. Dip each one into a different color, completely covering each pretzel. Let them dry for 8-10 minutes or as it says on the packaging, and you are done.

4) USA Banner
Take pieces of red, white, and blue scrapbook paper, cardstock, or construction paper. Cut 4 equal sized isoceles triangles out of the paper. Use markers to write (U S A!), writing one character per triangle. Use a hole punch to punch holes on the two top congruent angles at the top of each triangle. String a long ribbon through each hole and attach the two ends of the ribbon to your wall. Done!

5) Tie-Dye USA
Buy a tie-dye kit from the store. Also, buy white shirts, white tote bags, or whatever fabric you want to dye. Using the instructions from the kit, dye the fabric red and blue, leaving some areas on the fabric white. Follow the instructions given on the kit, and you will have a red white and blue master"peace". (Get it? Because tie-dye has to do with peace)
